The Cultural Renaissance during the Reign of Catherine II 1762 – 1796

Abstract
Upon ascending the throne of Imperial Russia (1762–1796), Empress Catherine II placed exceptional emphasis on the pursuit of internal reforms. She was firmly convinced that the strength and stability of Russia could only be secured through a comprehensive reassessment of the state’s internal structures and institutions. Guided by this conviction, Catherine undertook a series of ambitious and systematic reforms that spanned multiple spheres of public life, with cultural and intellectual development occupying a central position.
